A day in the life of a Work Experience student

We recently welcomed 17 year old Harriet Clough to the Pastry kitchen at Ashdown Park for her work experience placement.

Harriet is currently a year 12 student at Imberhorne School in East Grinstead and is studying for A-levels in Pyschology, Food & Art.

We managed to catch up with Harriet while she was busy preparing for the day's Afternoon Teas and asked her how she was getting on...

"I am very interested in food and knew that getting experience in the kitchens at Ashdown Park would help me to decide what I want to do. I'd really like to run my own bakery but have taken a range of A-levels to keep my options open! My Grandad used to run his own bakery and I have been given all his old kitchen tools.

I've had so much fun here and it has been very interesting, although a little warm on some days! It has confirmed to me that I would definitely like to have a career somewhere in the food industry, after all, it's in my genes!"
