Rooms & Suites

The Richard Towneley Suite is a converted chapel with a vaulted ceiling and is lit beautifully by stained glass windows. Designed by Harry Clarke, it fills the interior in rainbow shades of coloured light, which creates a magical setting that the bride and groom will remember forever.

The licensed Summer House, which stands in a quiet part of the lawn overlooking the lake, offers an all together different kind of experience which is more informal and relaxed but no less romantic.

Couples are spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful settings for photographs. Seek out our beautiful Secret Garden, or a shady spot overlooking the lake, backlit by dappled sunshine streaming through the trees of the East Sussex countryside.

Harry Clarke

Our magnificent converted chapel is one of the most unique and impressive wedding venues in Sussex. Spectacular stained glass windows, designed by famous 19th century Irish stained glass artist Harry Clarke, who used up to 35 shades of blue in some of the panes, create shimmering shafts of light. Complete with the original organ, wedding bells and a vaulted timber ceiling, the Harry Clarke provides a magnificent setting for lavish wedding banquets and receptions for 80 to 150 guests.

John Haywood

The room below the Harry Clarke is licensed for civil ceremonies and caters for 80 to 150 guests for the ceremony, before moving upstairs to the Harry Clarke for the wedding banquet. With a private terrace and the option of using the Summer House overlooking the lake for the ceremony, the suite provides wedding parties with an exclusive self-contained wedding venue.

Henry Smart

Named after one of the architects responsible for the creation of the Chapel, who was also an accomplished photographer (see his photos along the East Wing corridor), the Henry Smart room is licensed for wedding ceremonies for between 40 and 70 guests. Following a Wedding Breakfast in the Lady Brassey Suite, guests then return to the Henry Smart for their evening reception, complete with its own private terrace.

Lady Brassey

In keeping with the history of the mansion, the Lady Brassey is elegantly decorated and will provide you with an outstanding setting for your special day. The room is suitable for a wedding breakfast for between 40 and 70 guests. It can also be used as a private room for you and your guests to enjoy breakfast the following morning.

Summer House

Situated on the lawns, the licensed Summer House is a wonderfully unique venue for your ceremony or drinks reception and is a stunning backdrop for the perfect wedding day.

The Summer House can be used in conjunction with the Richard Towneley Suite (converted Chapel) or as a venue in its own right. Your wedding ceremony can take place here with guests seated on the lawn and the sound of the lake in the background. Reception drinks are also on the lawn with the opportunity for the most fantastic photographs.

Jacob Henniker

If you are planning a more intimate affair then the Jacob Henniker room is a perfect choice for your ceremony. Licensed for civil ceremonies, it is beautifully appointed at the entrance to the hotel and suitable for between 10 and 40 guests. It can also be used as a private room for you and your guests to enjoy breakfast the following morning.

Richard de Wych

The smallest of our rooms suitable for a wedding breakfast, yet no less impressive with its view overlooking the grounds and lake, the Richard de Wych is ideal for the most intimate of weddings, accommodating between 10 and 16 guests.
