There are few places like Ashdown Park Hotel to stage outdoor activities for corporate groups. With a 186 acre estate, which has an abundance of open space and a variety of terrain, it lends itself as a dream venue for outdoor and motorised activities. We often work with event company, The Wright Event, who offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor team building activities and adventures.
In Autumn 2017, Ashdown Park and The Wright Event worked together on a unique and exhilarating team building day for Phaidon International.
Numbers: 60 participants
Timings: Just under 4 hours available, starting after lunch.
Activities: A mixture of driving and outdoor team building tasks.
Purpose: To provide an afternoon of team building activities which engage and challenge all participants.
On The Day
The Wright Event’s team of professional instructors joined the 60 participants inside the main hotel to make initial introductions, before accompanying everyone outside for the all-important health and safety briefing - not as exciting but essential.
Once the briefing was completed it’s on with the action!
Due to the size of the group and relatively short timeframe, participants were divided into eight teams, with two teams competing per activity to provide maximum participation time. Each activity lasted 45 minutes, finishing with the Rocket Launch Grand Finale!
More About The Activities:
Quad Biking Obstacle Course:
Safety briefing – tick!
Qualified instructor – tick!
Helmet – tick!
Large coned circuit with various obstacles – tick!
Start slow, get your balance and coordination, gain confidence and you’re off!
Get in that ‘Blue Peter’ mindset, armed with an assortment of materials including bottles, bike pumps and sticky-back plastic.
Creativity is the order of the day, as well as technical spec! Design and build your rocket and rocket launcher, before we line up the teams for a grand finale to see whose rocket flies the furthest.
A team building activity, with a problem-solving element. Only real teamwork can get you successfully cross the ‘minefield’ to complete the task.
Blindfold Driving Challenge:
This is a great and challenging activity, requiring true teamwork, listening skills and clear, precise instruction giving.
Everyone gets the chance to drive - whilst blindfolded - as the rest of the team back-seat drives by providing instructions on how to navigate the vehicle around a twisting, turning track. Just to add to the fun, you are driving against the clock and receive penalty points for hitting cones on the way. If this wasn’t challenging enough, certain words are forbidden, such as ‘left’ and ‘right’!
Once the activities were complete the participants returned to their function room inside Ashdown Park Hotel while the Wright Event’s team calculated the scores for each team to determine the winners. These scores were announced over a delicious traditional Afternoon Tea.
Phaidon International were delighted with their experience at Ashdown Park Hotel with The Wright Event and shared the following feedback:
“I just wanted to drop a note to say a massive thank you to the team for all your help and support over the last few days. Every single part of our experience was made so easy by every member of the team who supported.”
