At a recent Macmillan coffee morning held in our Country Club, our Executive Chef, Andrew Wilson, was giving tips and hints on preparing stylish food for your guests when someone commented on how wonderful it would be to have your own Chef cook at your dinner party! That was enough for Andrew to open the bidding war for him to cook a three course lunch at the home of the bidder, with all proceeds going to Macmillan cancer research.
This 'off the cuff' comment ended with a £600 bid from Ben Brittain! So...last month, Executive Chef, Andrew Wilson, along with one of his fantastic Chefs, Mariusz Strycharz, cooked up a storm in the kitchen of Country Club Member, Arlene Spicer, who kindly donated her house for the event, and created a delicious three course lunch for 10 excited guests!
The guests tucked into a starter of lobster velouté with mussels, saffron rouille and garlic croutons, followed by a delicious main course of fillet of beef wellington with truffle dauphinoise and caramelised shallots. The dessert was a
mouth-watering peach melba, lemon pannacotta and raspberry sorbet. The enjoyable lunch was rounded off with cheese & biscuits, and coffee and petit fours. A fantastic time was had by all!
Following on from this, Arlene Spicer organised a charity walk around the Ashdown Park Estate for Macmillan cancer research. Her walk raised a magnificent £1824 and, in her words, “not bad for 28 walkers, 4 dogs and a few donations!”
